The Godfather Tour

On this ride we will visit two of the towns that were used in the Godfather movie. The actual town in the movie called Corleone is now quite developed so these small towns which have retained their antique charm were used instead.

It starts off along the coast of Giardini Naxos making it's way through lower Taormina and through some other seaside towns until we hit the first climb of about 3.5 klms up to the town Forza d'Agro, the first Godfather Town. Vincenzo Nibali has the KOM on this climb so you can have go at knocking him off. The town appears in GF2, we will visit the church from the movie then head down back along the coast to the next GF town, Savoca which houses the famous Bar Vitelli and the church where Michael Corleone gets married. Here we will stop at the bar for a coffee and granita and possibly a cannolo.

We will then head back down along the coast towards Giardini. For those that have had enough for the day they can keep going straight back to Giardini Naxos, for others that have one more climb in their legs we will head up the climb towards Taormina and onto a cute little town called Castelmola made famous for it’s almond wine. It may be worth visiting this town for dinner one night to sample the almond wine.
